One Hundred Foreign Tourists Visit Simeulue Island
Island Time Beach House | Simeulue Surf Camp. | Hundreds of foreign tourists visited the beach of Matanurung Village, Teupah Tengah Subdistrict, Simeulue Regency, Aceh, to surf the waves.
Head of the Simeulue Regency Tourism Office Asmanuddin in Simeulue, Saturday, said that over the past week 112 foreign tourists visited the beach which is famous for its surfing attraction because of its waves.
“Surfing attractions at Matanurung Beach are increasingly in demand by foreign tourists. In the past week alone there were 112 foreign tourists visiting the place,” Asmanuddin said.
According to Asmanuddin, not only at Matanurung Beach, foreign tourists also like a number of other beaches on Simeulue Island. In addition to its natural beauty, the beaches on Simeulue Island have waves that are suitable for those who like surfing waves.
“Foreign tourists are also interested in visiting because the beaches are still natural and well maintained. Of course, this is an asset for the Simeulue Regency Government to develop beach tourism, especially wave surfing,” Asmanuddin said.
Apart from foreign tourists, Asmanuddin said, domestic or archipelago tourists have also visited Simeulue Island in the past week. Especially on weekends, there is a long holiday of several days.
Asmanuddin said the large number of tourist visits has had an impact on the recovery of the community’s economy, especially the tourism sector, which was previously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,
“We also invite business actors to develop the existing tourism potential, so that tourist visits to Simeulue Island continue to increase. The increase in tourist visits certainly has an impact on the economic growth of the community,” said Asmanuddin.
