Island Time Beach House | Simeulue Surf Camp. | The Government of Simeulue Regency, Aceh Province, through the Tourism and Culture Office relies on wave surfing and diving to increase tourist visits to the island district.
“Wave surfing and diving are now the mainstay attractions that are most attractive to tourists visiting the island district. So, we rely on wave surfing and diving to increase tourist visits to Simeulue,” Head of the Simeulue Regency Tourism and Culture Office Asmanuddin said in Simeulue on Friday.
He said Simeulue Regency is an island regency located in the Indian Ocean, so tourism in the area is dominated by marine tourism, especially surfing or surfing and diving.
“Surfing and diving are in demand by foreign tourists. Meanwhile, local tourists prefer beach tourism, as well as waterfalls and lakes,” Asmanuddin said.
Asmanuddin said that in Simeulue Regency there are several surfing and diving spots. Among them are on the beaches of Alus Alus Village, Matanurung Village, Baturundung Village, and in Alafan. On the beach, the waves are quite well known among foreign tourists.
Meanwhile, diving tours are available in the waters of Pinang Island, Mincau Island, Teupah Island, and Siumat Island, which are famous for their coral reefs and underwater nature.
“Every year, thousands of tourists visit Simeulue Island for surfing or diving tours. There are also other tourist attractions,” said Asmanuddin.
Asmanuddin said that his party continues to organize tourism objects on Simeulue Island. The arrangement includes adding supporting facilities such as installing electricity, fresh water sources, communication towers, and also photo spots for tourists.
“With the arrangement of these attractions, it is hoped that it will attract more tourists, not only domestic, but also foreign tourists to visit Simeulue Island,” said Asmanuddin.
Simeulue Regency is the outermost island region in Aceh Province. Simeulue Island is located in the Indian Ocean, about 180 nautical miles from the west coast of Sumatra Island.
